Description

Tour Highlights

We stop at several locations with stop times ranging between 10 and 30 minutes. Note that stop time is based on guide discretion and certain stops are dependent on the weather.

Vibrant Downtown: Downtown San Diego is the heart of one of the most desirable cities in the nation, offering breathtaking waterfront locations, warm year-round temperatures and an exciting 24-hour live-work-play environment.

The Gaslamp Quarter: The Gaslamp Quarter is Southern California's premier dining, shopping and entertainment district, where you'll find a truly eclectic blend of food, fun and culture all within one of San Diego's most historic areas.

Balboa Park: World-renowned Balboa Park is home to fifteen museums, various arts and international culture associations, as well as the San Diego Zoo, making it one of the nation's largest cultural and entertainment complexes.

The Embarcadero: Known for its diverse business and entertainment facilities, the Embarcadero features more than 125 retail shops and restaurants and a five-screen cinema.

La Jolla: La Jolla in Spanish means "The Jewel," and indeed this beautiful seaside town is the Jewel of America's finest city, San Diego. La Jolla is located 15 minutes from downtown San Diego. It has wonderful beaches, cultural activities and fine restaurants. La Jolla is an exquisite combination of a southern European resort atmosphere and Southern California fun.

Mount Soledad: From Mount Soledad, you'll glimpse panoramic ocean views! Enjoy gorgeous, 360-degree views under the shadow of a towering cross, now encircled with veteran's plaques.

Hotel Del Coronado: Rising from water's edge on the quaint island of Coronado in San Diego, the Hotel del Coronado is considered one of America 's most beautiful beach resorts. A classic historic hotel, The Del was built in 1888 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977. Today, The Del offers travelers contemporary luxury in an enchanting Victorian atmosphere.

Old Town: Old Town San Diego, the first European settlement in what is now California, is often called the state's birthplace. In 1769, Father Junipero Serra founded the first California mission here. California's birthplace serves as the historic center of the city and is rich with the state's Spanish and Native American heritage.

Seaport Village: Tempting travelers with its array of fine shops and dining, San Diego's Seaport Village is one of the city's main attractions. Consisting of 14 acres, 75 shops and four restaurants, Seaport Village was designed as a 100-year-old village, where visitors could shop, eat and relax. Each restaurant has a great view of the bay and four miles of walkways will help diners walk off their meals. Spend about 2 hours at Seaport Village.

Our tour director was absolutely wonderful! I enjoyed the tour so much, that I added the afternoon excursion to Tijuana as well. The tour director was very informative and knowledgeable about all areas the tour covered. I wouldn't hestitate to take the tour again the next time I'm back in San Diego.

We had a great time due to our awesome tour guide. Very, very funny with lots of info about San Diego. He left some people at one of the stops due to them not being back on the bus on time which I agreed with him, because otherwise we would have been off schedule. I think he could have been a little more clear that he would indeed leave you, if you didn't get back to the bus on time. He did tell us, I just think nobody took him seriously. Overall, a great time. We would indeed recommend it. Thanks again.

I would have liked to have spent a bit more time in La Jolla, absolutely beautiful. The bus driver was courteous and knowledgeable. I learned a lot of information in a short time. Enjoyed the stop at the Hotel Del Coronado the best. For the money spent, I believe that I got a good orientation to the San Diego sights.

It was a great highlight tour. I was staying at the Embassy Suites which is across the street from Seaport Village which was part of our tour. It would have been nice for the company to have offered to discount that portion of the tour since I did not know that destination was so close to our hotel.

Did not follow what was listed on places to see. We had planned on seeing Mt. Soledad with terrific views of La Jolla with the World War II Memorial. The people that we had with our group were all World War II Veterans. I spoke to the driver and he said since a few houses were destroyed in that area he could not drive through. That was not true because we live near Mt. Soledad and he could have shown it to our group. He also spent too much time picking up people at the Pier which took some of our time out of sightseeing.
